A MAN has been arrested over a suspected knife attack in Chichester city centre this afternoon.

Police were called after a man suffered facial injuries in the incident, which took place on East Walls, close to the end of East Street.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “At 1.35pm on Wednesday, February 25, police were called to East Walls, Chichester where a 36 year old man had received a cut to his face from what is believed to be a knife and for which he is receiving treatment at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

“Shortly after 3pm officers arrested a 44 year old man nearby in the city centre on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

“He is currently in custody for interviews and further inquiries.

“The two men are known to each other.”
