Motorbike rider’s life no longer in danger after Chichester crash

The teenage driver of the motorbike which crashed in Chichester is recovering in hospital, and no longer in a life-threatening condition.

The 18-year-old driver of the Kymco 125 motorbike crashed in Market Avenue at 3.50pm, yesterday (Wednesday October 5).

He was flown to Kings College Hospital in London with serious injuries.

The 21-year-old pillion passenger, also from Chichester, was treated at St Richard’s Hospital for minor facial injuries and later released after the collision with a Volvo.

The driver of the Volvo, a 48-year-old man from Chichester, was also treated at St Richards for minor injuries.

Shortly before the collision, the motorcycle had come to the attention of police officers as one of the riders was not wearing a helmet.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
