EXACTLY eight months after being ravaged by fire, popular village pub The Gribble is back in business.

Landlords Simon Wood and Nikki Tester opened their doors to invited guests for a special relaunch night on Thursday, before the Oving pub will officially open to the public this Saturday.

Last night’s packed event was held for the many people in the Oving community who have helped get the back on its feet and everyone there was delighted to see their favourite drinking hole completely restored.

Speaking at last night’s event, landlady Nikki said: “It’s so nice to see everyone and see the place with people in it again.

“It’s eight months to the day since the fire and we’re delighted to be back open.

“Tonight is all about saying a big thank-you to everyone who has supported us, be it putting us up in their spare room, bringing us food, helping with the big clear up and all the other wonderful support.

“It’s been a real community effort to open again.”

Among the special guests were some of the 106 firefighters who battled to put the blaze out as it ripped through the roof on July 19 last year.

The Oving pub will be back open to the public this Saturday.
