New Chichester scheme will see churches team up with police

A YOUTH project launching in the city has been welcomed by police bosses.

A partnership between local churches, Sussex Police, Chichester District Council and others, Redeeming Our Communities (ROC) Chichester, will kick off on Wednesday.

Aimed at building ‘safer, kinder communities’, the scheme is the sixth in the county and will be officially launched at The Venue in Chichester at 8pm.

“I am excited about ROC coming to Chichester. It enables us to deliver positive change through a committed and effective partnership between Sussex Police and the church,” said Inspector Will Rolls from the Chichester Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The scheme will see the parties working together on youth engagement projects and other initiatives.

“ROC Chichester demonstrates our determination to build on recent success such as City Angels, Chichester Foodbank and Christians Against Poverty,” said Dan Slatter, pastor of Revelation Church and chairman of the ROC Chichester team.

“We believe these projects are vital for our communities, especially in times where services are being cut.”
