NEWLYWEDS David and Diana Morris have labelled a Chichester venue ‘gorgeous’ after being the first to marry at a ceremony in Orchard Street.
The West Sussex Record Office, which can hold a maximum of 12 guests, is the first intimate venue to be offered since the closure of the city’s register office in 2011.
David Morris said: “It had to be Chichester and we were so lucky that they were opening up this new venue.
“As it turns out we were the first marriage here.”
The venue hosts ceremonies for both stage marriages and civil partnerships and can be rented through the county council’s ceremonies team.
West Sussex County Council’s head of ceremonies Alison Wheeler said: “We are delighted we can now offer the perfect venue for intimate ceremonies.
“It’s something for couples who may have needed to travel outside West Sussex to find a suitable venue before.”
