A proud son has spoken of his pride after fulfilling his lifelong ambition to hold an exhibition of his late father’s artwork.
Tony Lane, of Lionel Avenue, Felpham, is currently displaying Bill Lane’s work at Chichester College.
Bill, who passed away aged 80 in December last year, was a former head of art at the college and taught for nearly forty years.
Tony said the exhibition is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.
“I wanted to get notoriety for his talent before he passed away but now no ones going to stop me. It’s the one thing I’ve always wanted to do in my life is to promote his talent.
“When I was younger I was always blown away by him. He astounded me.”
Since the exhibition started Tony has been approached by many people who his father knew who have wanted to share their fond memories.
“It’s going very very well”, he said, “You wouldn’t believe the amount of feedback I’ve had. Everyone I know talks such beautiful things about him. He gained the respect of everyone.”
The exhibition of 20 of Bill’s works will take place until the end of today (October 23).
“If anyone has any funny stories or any funny memories I would love to hear about them,” Tony added.
