AN ASSAILANT grabbed a woman as she was about to enter a Chichester underpass on Saturday night (February 28).

Police said the sexual assault happened around 11.30pm as the woman in her 30s was walking alone along the path leading the underpass in Via Ravenna, close to the Waitrose supermarket.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “As she reached the underpass she was grabbed from behind and assaulted by touching. All she noticed before breaking free and running off was that her assailant was wearing a dark padded jacket.”

He said anyone who saw what happened or who was in the area at the time should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 97 of February 28.
