Political correctness gone mad
In the 18 years I have lived in Chichester, I have always considered the council to have had its head screwed on properly. Until today that is.
Imagine my surprise to read on page one of the Daily Telegraph that the council are following the lead set by the loony left in Manchester who banned the word "manhole" on cast iron sewer access covers in highways for fear of being politically incorrect.
As a matter of interest, just how many requests has CDC received from the electorate for it to "woman the switchboard" as opposed to "man the switchboard"?
Do you not consider the person who wrote the council guidelines in question should be sat down in a darkened room and quietly informed that the vast majority of Chichester council chargepayers would prefer him/her to devote his/her time to something a little more productive that didn't bring national embarrassment to your constituents and make the district a laughing stock?
