A FORMER councillor has urged residents to make their views known on a bid for 500 homes west of Westhampnett.
Mike Hall, a former county councillor, urged people to take part in a further consultation on the draft local plan, which closes at 9am on Monday, September 16.
“If these proposals are agreed it will destroy the only green space between Westhampnett and the city,” he said.
“The rural character of Westhampnett has already seen significant new development, with more planning permissions yet to be started, the impact will be unacceptable not only to the residents of Westhampnett but to East Lavant, Hunters Race and Funtington from traffic avoiding the A27 at peak times.
“By continuing to allow greenfield sites to be developed before brownfield sites we will be creating an environmental disaster.
“All this is without the necessary supporting infrastructure and the continual loss of even more valuable food production land.”
