Road safety fears over Eartham stable plans

CONCERNS over road safety have once again been raised on a plan for stables in Eartham.

An application to extend the time on an existing planning permission for the land at Thicket Lane, Eartham Quarry, will be debated by members of Chichester District Council’s planning committee on Wednesday (June 26).

However, Eartham Parish Council has repeated its previous concerns about road safety.

“While residents welcome the sight of horses in the local area, there is deep concern about the proposal because of its implications for road safety,” it said in its response.

“The plan shows access to the development via Thicket Lane on what is a dangerous 90-degree bend.”

The previous permission was for use of land for equestrian purposes and construction of a building housing seven stables, a tack room and hay store.

The application will be debated at a committee meeting at 10am on Wednesday at East Pallant House, Chichester.

Officers have recommended the scheme is approved.
