Polo mini-town for Stedham
A polo mini-town is set to be created at Stedham, with an application lodged in the last few days for accommodation for 40 ponies and nearly a dozen grooms, and the prospect of additional jobs.
As the Observer reported last week, Australian James Packer has acquired the use for a minimum of two years of his late father Kerry's former polo grounds at Great House Farm, owned by Bobby Aguirre.
Now a planning application has gone to Chichester District Council for temporary demountable stables and grooms' accommodation on land at the farm where Kerry Packer was granted consent in 2000 for permanent stabling. The development has not taken place under Mr Aguirre's ownership.
The campus, at the southern end of the site close to the A272, would be occupied during the English polo season from March until September.
