DONORS are being encouraged to register to give blood during National Blood Week.
Younger people are being asked to donate after new figures show more than half the active blood donors in West Sussex are over the age of 45.
“During this year’s National Blood Week, we are hoping to encourage people in Sussex and Surrey who have never given blood before to commit to give blood for the first time and to remind those who have not given for some time, to come back and donate.
“Please come and help us to provide the blood that hospitals and their patients need. A donor saves and improves lives every time they donate – and you could too!” said John Canning, lead donor relations manager for NHS Blood and Transplant for the region.
For more information or to book an appointment, visit www.blood.co.uk or contact 0300 123 23 23.
A donation session is being held on Thursday, June 27, from 1.45pm–4.30pm and 5.30pm–8pm at The Venue, Revelation Centre, Spur Road, Chichester.
