PLANS to replace one property with four, three-bedroom homes near the coast have been met with concern by some East Wittering residents.
The application for the development in Shore Road has raised concerns from East Wittering and Bracklesham parish councillors, who have recommended the number planned should be reduced to three homes to make room for car parking.
The owner of 48 Shore Road, who does not wish to be named, said: “At present there is one visually-attractive house with very open space at the side.
“The overall effect of the development is over-dominant, overbearing and detrimental to the character and visual amenities of the village.”
Jamie Brown, from West Sussex County Council highways department, said the site was ‘sustainably located’.
However, Lisa Black, who lives in Shore Road, said: “The council must take into account the fact this is the main road to the sea and in Easter and summer becomes very busy with all the traffic.”
The plans for Woodstock in Shore Road will be determined by Chichester District Council next week.
