Residents want to shape Lavant’s future

THE people of Lavant continue to have a say about the future redevelopment of their village.

More than 90 people turned out for a feedback meeting earlier this month for the well-attended beating of the bounds event held in September.

Lavant Parish Council is currently working on a neighbourhood plan which members feel is essential to ensure its residents have an influence over where future housing will be built.

Those who turned out at St Nicholas’ Church on December 6 viewed and commented on a range of maps, information and photographs which came from the ‘beating’.

“At every event we have held, the large turn out from the local community has been a massive surprise and very reassuring as the amount of work put into this by the committee has been enormous,” said a council spokesman.

The council says residents will continue to be part of ‘confronting and overcoming the dilemmas which face many communities’ in the county.

The steering group will now create some viable options for Lavant’s future, which will be presented on February 21 at the Lavant Community Day, at the Memorial Hall, between 10am and 3pm.
