Resurfacing work on the A27 Chichester bypass is set to be completed.

Although the majority of the work was completed in February, the Highways Agency will be finishing resurfacing work throughout May.

The work will take place over night from Monday, May 19, for five nights between 8pm and 6am.

Motorists will be diverted via Fishbourne Roundabout, onto the A259, A286 and A285 before joining the A27 at Portfield Roundabout.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: “We are carrying out this work to improve road user safety along the A27 and prolong the carriageway life reducing the need for emergency repairs.

“In order to carry out the work there will be full carriageway closures of the A27 Chichester Bypass with road users being diverted through Chichester.

“The diversion routes have been fully agreed with Sussex Police and West Sussex County Council to cause as minimal disruption as possible.

“Work of this nature does generate disruption and inevitably a certain amount of noise.

“Efforts will be made to reduce this wherever possible. We appreciate your understanding and tolerance of the works until they are completed.”
