A COACH firm which provides transport for school children has been suspended for two weeks for ‘significant shortfalls’ in time management records.
Rutherfords Travel transport manager, George Bell, whose main business is running school transport, has been described as a ‘cause for concern’ after he was found to have inadequate records of drivers’ hours and breaks.
Nick Denton, the transport commissioner for London and the south east, said: “Mr Bell’s whole attitude throughout the inquiry gave me cause for concern.
“He appeared for much of the inquiry to be in a state of denial about his failure to comply.
“Mr Bell has also been less than co-operative with the enforcement authorities and this has harmed his repute in my eyes.”
Mr Bell’s licence to operate was suspended from January 1.
Drivers’ hours records were inaccurate, with more than 600km of mileage missing from records for one vehicle, in just two months.
Mr Bell was told to create the right record-keeping systems during the two-week period and attend a two-day CPC refresher course by the end of March.
