The wing is the first stage of the care home’s improvement project and it has been named the Hayler Wing.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be here,” said Steve Power.

“It is wonderful to see provision is being made for this care in the community.

“It is so homely, and there is such a warm welcome for visiting friends and family.”

“Sheila is queen of the home.”

All Sheila’s family were there to see her open the new wing, including her sister and husband-in-law Audrey and Michael Cramp.

“It is so nice-looking here and it’s lovely Sheila has opened the ward,” said Mrs Cramp, who lives in Bognor Regis.

Sheila’s four sons and daughter also visited for the opening.

“It has all come together properly now,” said Angie Shepherd, manager of Conifers.

“It has been a two-year project.

“We have such a community atmosphere here.”

There are seven new beds in the ward, bringing the total to 20 beds.
