A Selsey man is to cycle around the circumference of France to raise money for a cancer charity.
Adam Skeet, 22, is to do the challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of his grandparents.
He will be cycling solo, leaving the castle in the centre of Caen on April 1 and travelling clockwise. Adam, of Coxes Road, said: “Many people may think I am mad, but I just want to do something different to test myself.
“I want to really enjoy the amazing country of France, to learn about the cultural and culinary differences from region to region as well as raising money for such a worthwhile cause.
“I hope my grandparents would be proud of me.”
Adam will be carrying his food, tent, cooking equipment, spare parts for his bike and clothes throughout the trek. He will be travelling to the furthest northern, southern, eastern and western points in the country.
He added: “While I am happy to camp, I am also looking for places where I could perhaps stay for the night, enjoy a shower, as well as have easy access to the internet in order to update my blog.
“I am aware that each commune has a camp site, but my aim is to raise money not to spend it.”
As a warm-up, Adam will be cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End with his dad Brian over a two-week period starting on February 28 and finishing just after his 23rd birthday on March 12.
For this challenge the pair will be raising money for the RNLI and Everyman Campaign.
