CINDERELLA will go to the ball this year, as perfect pumpkin-producing weather has allowed the fairytale star to be recreated at the annual Slindon Pumpkin Festival.
Following last year’s unsuccessful attempt to bring the princess to life due to poor weather, organiser Robin Upton has been able to realise his vision this time around.
Mr Upton said: “With 90 per cent of the crop yield lost last year, we had to downsize the display, but this year everything came right and we were given the variety of colours and sizes we needed.”
Mr Upton has been picking thousands of the fruits since July in preparation for the big event and has amassed up to 71 different varieties.
The display, created by pumpkin picture-makers Mark and Rebecca Ford of Two Circles Design, took 66 hours to build.
It is on show at 4 Top Road, Slindon, BN18 0RP. The event should run into November.
