Sowing seeds for charity success in Chichester

COMPETITION at the Park Tavern, Chichester, is hotting up.

Regulars at the pub are taking part in a chilli plant-growing contest to raise money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

The annual competition is organised by pub regular Alan Price.

The pub usually sells around 35 plants for £10 each, and everyone comes back in September to report their progress.

The contest, now in its ninth year, usually raises between £600 and £700 for charity.

Landlord Jason Buckner, who runs the tavern said: “It’s bit of fun and we do bits and bobs for charity.

“Nearly everyone here is a regular and it’s a pretty good atmosphere, and everyone gets on with each other.”
