YOUNG people from Tangmere enjoyed playing netball and five-a-side football when the village’s new multi-use games area (MUGA) was unveiled.
The launch was attended by Chichester District Council chairman Cllr Peter Clementson, parish councillors and residents of all ages.
Money for the long-awaited project came from Section 106 funding, grants from CDC and the Veolia Environmental Trust which awarded £25,000.
The £99,000 MUGA has been created on the former tennis courts, which had become worn out.
The parish council also decided a better variety of sports should be catered for.
It has markings for five-aside football, basketball and netball and the site is free to use; it also has an all-weather surface, drainage and floodlights.
Parish council chairman Andrew Irwin said: “This new project is another step towards our plans to provide first-class facilities.”
