THE Emsworth Pastoral Centre and Emsworth Business Association is benefiting from a total of £15,000, thanks to a Community Store Card Scheme.

The scheme has been run by The Southern Co-operative at its Emsworth store over the past year, and enables local communities to raise funds by presenting a CSC card, which are issued free by participating stores, every time they buy goods in-store.

Emsworth Business Association, which represents more than 70 businesses in the town, has received £10,000 from the Southern Co-operative.

Carol Haskett, Emsworth Business Association former chairperson, said: “We plan to renew the Christmas lights around St Peter’s Square in Emsworth in readiness for our Christmas event and also support other local events held at Christmas and on St George’s Day.

“This is a fantastic success and the £10,000 will make a huge difference to the local community.”
