Sunday Fun Day enjoys perfect weather

Held at Jubilee Gardens, adjacent to the River Arun, on Sunday, the community family event included music from Worthing Steel Band, Ellie & Co and solo singer Marvin.

The main element of the day was the Youth Town Crier final, bringing together those who won a number of heats at St Philip's Catholic Primary School and Arundel Church of England Primary School during May and June.

Arundel town crier Angela Standing started the day with her own 'cry' to welcome everyone to the event. Later, Isabella Binstead, Toby Sugden and Finn Richardson presented their 'cries’, all on the subject of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Members of 1st Arundel (Earl of Arundel's Own) Scout Group provided ballistas, rocket firing and rope bracelet making.

Arundel Lido did free face painting for children throughout the day and Arundel Museum provided a 'what's in the bag?' game plus a brilliant Marcus and Millie Mullet board for photo opportunities.

Arundel mayor James Stewart said: "We had planned this as a one-off event to replace the postponed Queen’s Picnic in June but now it seems that we have created a new annual event for Arundel.

"Everyone has had such a great, relaxed and fun day that we plan to do this again next year, a week or so before the festival, for the local community."
