People in Tangmere rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in to help plant a memorial hedge for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Scouts, parish councillors, residents and members of Tangmere Community Garden gathered to plant 105 saplings donated by the Woodland Trust.
Tangmere parish councillor Kate Beachsaid said: “It’s to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, which is something that is never really likely to be repeated.
“We hope this will improve the wildlife in Tangmere.”
The saplings include blackthorn, hawthorn, hazel birch, rowan and oak, as well as a special memorial royal sapling which will be planted at a later date once it is of a more substantial size.
