A VITAL link between people in need and health services in Tillington could be in line for another of our Community Awards.
Tillington Local Care, known as TLC, was winner of the Best Neighbourhood award back in 2012.
Since then the group has gone from strength to strength, taking people in the parish to and from doctor appointments and offering financial help to those who need it.
So much so that TLC has just been nominated for this year’s awards in the Best Voluntary/Charity Group.
“What brilliant and unexpected news,” said secretary Gerald Gresham Cooke. “We’ve been very lucky because other villages have now heard about us and been in touch to say what a good thing it would be for their village, too.”
TLC, established in 2009, has 33 voluntary drivers who are on hand to ferry local residents to and from doctor appointments. Now a registered charity, it also collects people’s prescriptions and even offers pensions and benefits advice.
So far this year TLC has helped around 100 people, many elderly, the equivalent of around two a week.
There are 14 categories to chose from when nominating, all the details to the right.
