A STUNNING fireworks display lit up the Selsey skies at the weekend.

Thousands of spectators turned out on Saturday (October 13) and were entertained by the colourful display, which was musically accompanied by film and TV themes.

The show’s theme of Magic, Myths and Legends was evident as the music was synchronised with the visual display to keep the crowds entertained.

Selsey Fireworks 2012, which was created by Selstar Fireworks of Selsey, was the 34th annual display in the event’s long history, and plans are already well underway for next year’s event.

Despite recent poor weather, the rain held off to create perfect conditions, even allowing for the large bonfire to be lit.

In addition to the fireworks there was live music from Chichester-based band The Chain, and a large fun fair.

Wave 105’s breakfast show presenter Steve Power was on hand to speak to the crowds, which was followed by the twenty-five minute display.

The community-based display was supported by many businesses, especially Bunn Leisure who allowed their site.

Organisers also thanked the volunteers who contributed many hours of their time to the event, including setting up and preparing the site over the previous three days.
