THREE men were arrested in connection with a dog that went missing in West Wittering.

The local men were arrested on Tuesday, June 25, and are currently on police bail.

The dog is now back with its owner.

Chichester Police said there was also a report of some men behaving suspiciously near a garden in the Lavant area.

A police spokeswoman said: “It is not clear if the two incidents are connected and despite some rumours there do not appear to have been any other incidents reported across Chichester district either before or since.

“If anybody has witnessed any suspicious incidents or is aware of any thefts or attempted thefts of dogs that have occurred please ensure they are reported to Sussex Police and they can be investigated accordingly.

“In the meantime, please note that crime relating to dogs in this area is very rare and you do not need to take any additional security measures at this time.

“As always with any type of crime, please be vigilant in your area and report any suspicious behaviour you see to Sussex Police at the time via the usual means.”
