MORE than a ton of tools has been donated to help impoverished people earn their own living.
The tools were collected by charity Tools with a Mission (TWAM) at Chichester Baptist Church.
Michael Redhead, from the church, said collectors had been ‘bowled over by the generosity of donors’.
The tools were collected over nine months and refurbished in the local TWAM workshop before being sent to the charity’s headquarters in Ipswich.
“Fifteen sewing machines, six work benches, two wood turning lathes as well as many saws, drills, spanners, planes, and even a weaving loom were packed into the van,” said Michael.
On arriving in Ipswich, they were sorted into carpentry, mechanics or horticulture kits and given to graduates passing out from the training courses run by the charity.
TWAM regularly sends containers to African and Eastern European countries to help impoverished people earn their own
living.
