MOVEMBER reaches its half-way point today (Thursday, November 15) and builders have been getting into the spirit of the challenge.

Covers Timber & Builders Merchants launched its Movember event on November 1, inviting men from the local community to join staff and pledge to grow a fantastic moustache for the whole of November.

Money raised goes to fund projects directed by Movember and its partners Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research.

Henry Green, commercial manager at Covers, said: “This is a great fun way to raise money for a fantastic cause and we really hope our customers and the local community will join Covers’ staff and take up the Movember challenge.”

On Friday, November 30, an event will take place for all those who signed up to the challenge at www.covers.biz.

There will be a final photograph and the chance to be shaved by a professional.

Covers launched another campaign on Monday – the Great British Bag-athon event.

Chichester mayor Anne Scicluna became the first person to donate a bag of unwanted items to the British Heart Foundation Shops campaign.

Staff at Covers are asking residents to join them in collecting as many bags as possible, which will then be sold in local British Heart Foundation shops.

Bags of clothing, toys, accessories, shoes, CDs, DVDs, books, toys etc can be taken to the drop off point at Covers until Monday, December 31.

Branch manager Alan Course said: “It is wonderful to see people in the local community getting involved in the campaign.”
