A PLANNING appeal for 59 new homes in Tangmere has been lodged against Chichester District Council.
The council refused planning permission for a development of the site on the east of Meadow Way, Tangmere, for 59 homes, associated public space, access to the site and car parking.
Tangmere parish councillors unanimously objected to the original application, arguing the village was already over-burdened by traffic and could not cope with the increase in population.
Tangmere resident David Blythe wrote to Chichester District Council objecting to the appeal.
“Developments on greenfield sites should not be permitted until brownfield sites in Tangmere with planning consent have been built upon,” he said. Mr Blythe also said there was ‘no demand’ for the housing.
The inquiry will be held at East Pallant House, Chichester on Wednesday, September 25, at 10am.
