STRONG winds and heavy rain have been causing disruption in and around Chichester today (Sunday, October 20).
We have received reports from readers of the A27 being partially blocked due to flooding.
There were also reports of fallen trees blocking roads in the district earlier today.
To the west, a ‘mini-tornado’ struck parts of Hayling Island, uprooting trees and damaging properties.
A statement from Havant Borough Council said: “A mini-tornado which hit Hayling Island this morning caused damage to properties in Blackthorn Road and Ilex Walk. Some minor damage was also reported at Silversands Gardens.
“Havant Borough Council building control officers have inspected the damage to the affected properties and are satisfied that the buildings are safe.
“Hampshire County Council highways and Havant Borough Council officers have removed debris from the area and county council officers are still clearing fallen trees.
“Emergency services are no longer in attendance.”
No-one is believed to have been injured.
