A DEDICATED couple are recognising 60 years of happy marriage with a week of celebrations with family and friends.
Janet and John Wright, who live in West Wittering, can also boast two children, Penny and Gary and four grandchildren.
“They moved to the area nearly five years ago because they fell in love with it,” said Penny.
“We bought a holiday home here and they loved the beach – they still go down most days.
Penny and her brother have also bought their parents tickets on the Orient Express British Pullman, which will be coming into Chichester tomorrow.
“They have always wanted to go on a day trip on the steam train, so we thought it would be a perfect opportunity,” said Penny.
The family has celebrated all together with a party at Penny’s house, and Janet and John will be enjoying lunch out on their wedding anniversary.
“They are so happy together,” said Penny.
She said the secret of their happy marriage was respect.
“We are a really solid family, and they have worked hard My dad made a speech on Saturday and had everyone in tears at the party. They said they had a lovely time.”
