TWO people are to appear in court after a store detective was hit by a car as he tried to stop a suspected shoplifter in Chichester.
David Benham, 47, of Kimmeridge Avenue, Poole, will appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 15, charged with dangerous driving.
Elizabeth Benham, 42, of Kimmeridge Avenue, Poole, will appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on the same day charged with theft and assault.
As reported last month, two people were questioned after the victim tried to stop a woman he believed was stealing from Tesco, in Fishbourne Road, Chichester, when she got into a blue Volkswagen Passat with a man in the driving seat.
According to police, he stood in front of the vehicle and was knocked onto the bonnet at about 10.45am on Thursday, September 19, was carried on the bonnet for about 20 metres before falling off.
