A SELSEY man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on police bail until January 9.
The 25-year-old was arrested following the crash on Friday (September 28).
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Sussex Police Roads Policing Unit would like to thank motorists and the local community for their patience during the closure of Street End Road, Sidlesham on Friday.
“The road was closed after a fatal collision at around 7.10am where bales of straw from a tractor trailers fell onto an oncoming vehicle.
“The driver of the vehicle, a 70-year-old man from Portsmouth died.
“The road was closed for a considerable time as the emergency services extracted the driver of an Alfa Romeo car from his vehicle, and specialist recovery equipment was required for the tractor, the damaged trailer and its load of straw bales.”
Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash and would ask anyone who saw the collision take place or saw any of the vehicles involved before the accident to call 101 quoting Operation Dovecot.
