UPDATE: Pedestrian in A27 collision has died

POLICE have confirmed the pedestrian involved in the A27 collision this morning (January 22), has died.

Emergency services are currently dealing with the fatal accident on the A27 between Emsworth and Chichester eastbound.

The incident involved a male pedestrian who has died at the scene and a lorry.

The accident happened at around 7.25am, and the road is currently closed eastbound at the Fishbourne roundabout.

Traffic is being diverted at the A27 junction with the A259 at Warblington. The westbound lane has re-opened to allow traffic to move.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The eastbound road is likely to be closed for another three hours and there is significant traffic congestion from the Hampshire border into West Sussex. Drivers are asked to be patient or advised to avoid the area if possible.”
