A GROUP of travellers who have descended on a recreation ground in Bosham have been issued with a notice to quit by Bosham Parish Council.

The group of caravans and other vehicles arrived on the site in Walton Lane on Monday afternoon (Monday, July 30).

A notice has been issued by Bosham Parish Council, saying they had to vacate the ground by 4pm on Wednesday, August 1.

“We are trying to resolve the situation as fast as we possibly can to the benefit of residents of Bosham,” said Cllr John Dean, chairman of Bosham Parish Council. “We are aiming to
take out a court order to move them on because they are, as far as I am concerned, camped illegally and a notice to quit has been put up.”

A spokesman from Sussex Police said: “We are aware of the group and have been to visit them. We are looking at it and seeing what powers we have and what we can do.”
