Tributes paid to student who died in crash

TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Chichester College student who died in a head-on car crash.

Lauren Smee died after an accident on the A27 at Goring on Sunday at 10.45pm.

The 21-year-old who lived in Spitalfield Lane, was taken to Worthing Hospital but died from her injuries.

She finished at the college in July, having studeid Travel and Tourism, and taking A-levels in Law, Media, and Business.

Her media lecturer, Claire Jackson said: “She was a beautiful young lady who was stolen from us. Lauren was a quiet and pleasant girl and my thoughts go out to her family.”

Lauren was a pupil at Chichester High School for Girls from 2002 until 2007.

Sheridan Bewley, her form tutor said: “Lauren was a delightful pupil, always happy, with a beaming smile and a kind word for everyone.

“She was a friendly and popular member of the tutor group and highly regarded by her teachers.”

The driver of the BMW, a 49-year-old man from Hastings, was also taken to Worthing Hospital with a serious injury. He remains in hospital with a fractured ankle and fractured spine.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who has information which may assist police with their enquiries to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Exchange.
