A spokesperson from the coastguard said: “Over the last couple of days we have worked together and supported the Ordnance Clearance Team and the Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Teams by helping them clear some of the ordnance from Medmerry Beach at Bracklesham – you may have heard some of the controlled explosions that were carried out!”

Selsey Coastguard has issued the advice that if you come across any ordnance or anything you’re unsure of on the beach, do not touch it and call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
