Police said the injured man was flown by Air Ambulance to St George’s Hospital, in Tooting, but died in the early hours of Friday July 22.

The driver of the car, a 77-year-old man from Bognor Regis, and his wife, 83, were both unhurt in the incident, police added.

Florence Road and Oving Road were temporarily closed while emergency services were at the scene.

Police are still seeking witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information should contact police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or ring 101 quoting Operation Pincushion.
