A 58-year-old man has been transferred to the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital following a collision with a car on the A27 eastbound from the Portfield roundabout yesterday (May 3).
Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision at around 3.25pm where the pedestrian was lying in the road with serious head injuries.
The injured man, from Rustington, was crossing the dual carriageway north to south when he collided with a silver VW that had exited the roundabout and was heading east.
Sergeant Tony Crisp from the Road Policing Unit said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the injured man prior to the incident is asked to call 101 quoting Operation Elston.”
The driver of the VW, a 23-year-old woman from West Sussex, was uninjured.
