An encampment of travellers has left Havant Road in Emsworth, less than a week after they arrived.
A spokeswoman for Havant Borough Council said: “Havant Borough Council started court proceedings to repossess the land on behalf of Hampshire County Council.
“A direction to leave was served on the group under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 on Tuesday, February 19 resulting in the Court hearing on Wednesday, February 20.
“Orders for removal were served on the group and the site was vacated today (Feb 21). Police from Hampshire and West Sussex were in attendance with Havant Borough Council officers, which instructed bailiffs to carry out the repossession for clearance of the site.
“The group left without resistance. The site is now empty and secure. Clean-up operation will commence at 7.30am tomorrow morning. Council officers are unable to comment on the cost of the clean up operation until they have had a full inspection of the site.
“The costs of serving the legal papers, court proceedings, council solicitor and lead officers time, estimated at approximately £350 will be re-charged to Hampshire County Council.”
Travellers moved on to the site last Thursday.
