AN ‘unusual way to spend a morning’ saw men putting their best foot forward for charity today (September 27).
Hike in Heels, in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice, meant around 20 bearded ladies trod carefully along Chichester city centre streets, raising thousands for the hospice along the way.
One hiker, Steve Parsons, was fast approaching the £700 fundraising mark as he also won an award for his accessories from the hospice.
Graeme Smith, 43, from Bognor Regis, said: “It’s an unusual way to spend a morning.”
The Chichester Inn, in West Street, hosted the charity walkers at the start and end of their walk, offering them a pint and pie as part of their payment to enter the hike.
Around the city centre, people stopped to admire the finely-dressed walkers, with some clearly unaware what was going on and wondering what they had stumbled across.
Other fundraisers included Lee Hilton-Smith, 42, from Felpham; Simon Oliver, 23, from Bosham and Oliver Wyatt, 24, from Chichester.
