HIGH tide has passed and the Environment Agency has reported most areas escaped serious flooding in the Chichester area today (December 14).
A severe flood warning was issued this morning for the stretch of coastline between Bracklesham and Thorney Island, with high tide at 11.32am.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “High tide has passed and the initial reports are very good. The defences all held up very well.
“There are no reports of property flooding and we are making people aware so that they stay vigilant as the tides will remain high over the weekend.”
He added rain is expected overnight, and despite the highest tide being forecast for today, people should stay alert to the possible risks.
