VIDEO: Your views on the alternative vote referendum

THE referendum on May 5 will ask whether voters want to change the voting system from first past the post to the alternative vote.

At the moment the candidate who gets the most votes is elected as an MP.

However a proposal has been put forward for candidates to be ranked in order of preference, the vote is then tallied and if a candidate gets 50 per cent of votes they are elected, if not the bottom candidate drops out and their vote is redistributed until a candidate gets 50 per cent of the vote.

The Observer asked people in Chichester for their thoughts on the issue and whether or not they will be voting.
