Waste is ‘potentially flooding out of a manhole cover’ in Selsey, according to the town council.

In a statement, the council confirmed it was ‘aware of the situation’ at East Beach car park and it has been reported to the authorities.

A spokesperson from Selsey Town Council said: “This issue has been reported to Chichester District Council whose Car Parks Team plan to take action today.

“Should you have any further queries or concerns please contact Chichester District Council on 01243 785166.”

A Selsey resident spotted the problem earlier today, commenting on Facebook: “Don’t know if anyone knows about this, but when East beach dump was open this morning and I passed through with my dog, I noticed a drain near the middle was bubbling up with a bit of water.

“I went that way eight hours later and a lot more water coming out and quite a bit of surface water in the car park.”
