West Sussex secondary school on fire

Fire crews are battling a blaze at a secondary school in West Sussex.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at just before 7pm with reports of a fire at The Weald School in Station Road, Billingshurst.

At least seven appliances have been sent to the scene.

According to eyewitness reports, the fire appears to be coming from the main building, with firefighters going in and out of what is known as A Block.

Approximately thirty people have been evacuated from the leisure centre next to the school, and the air is full of the smell of smoke.

The Weald School is a secondary school and sixth form that teaches around 1,700 pupils aged 11 to 18.
