A FUNDRAISING chippie will spend St George’s Day raising money for terminally-ill children.
Rana Denholm, owner of Whistler’s Fish and Chips, based in Westbourne, Hayling Island and Fareham, is offering fish and chips for £1 on Wednesday (April 23), to help raise money for Sam’s Haven.
The Hayling Island-based charity provides short respite holidays for families living with children with life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
“we regularly try to do some fundraising locally every so often,” said Rana.
She found out about Sam’s Haven from a sister of its founder, who was in the shop.
“We were just chatting and she mentioned her sister’s charity. It just strikes a chord with everybody I think when it comes to children.
“It’s really just come off that conversation and I think it’s quite nice that it’s a local one, it’s not just a faceless charity.”
The shop will sell fish and chips and sausage and chips for £1, and ask customers to make the rest a donation to the charity.
The Westbourne shop is based at The Grove, PO10 8UJ.
