A LONG-STANDING local tradition took place to mark Good Friday.
Westbourne villagers walked through the streets on Friday with a large wooden cross.
Residents who attend St John’s parish church met at the top of Monk’s Hill and walked down to the village square. The group stopped for readings and hymns on the way and collected more walkers as the event continued.
More than 30 people eventually gathered for a short service followed by coffee and buns.
Rector the Rev Frank Wright said: “One of the traditions of the Easter weekend is to remember the journey Jesus made from the prison to the place of execution, accompanied by those who had supported him.”
