CHILDREN and parents at West Wittering Parochial Primary School have won fantastic new cycle equipment, including helmets, lights and pumps as one of the top schools in this year’s The Big Pedal.
The national competition, led by charity Sustrans and sponsored by the Bike Hub, saw schools across the country competing to see how many journeys to school they could make by bike or scooter over a three-week period in March.
West Wittering School won the London and the south east regional prize for small schools. They won the same category last year.
Headteacher Sue O’Boyle said: “The children, parents and carers all took up the challenge with great enthusiasm.
“Many enjoyed it so much that cycling or scootering to school has become a regular part of their week.
“Our children know how important it is to look after the environment, and this is a great way to do that, while keeping fit and healthy at the same time.”
