A RETIREMENT home has celebrated 25 years since it opened – and more than 100 people attended.

Windmill Court in East Wittering invited residents’ friends and family to the birthday bash on June 21, and the mood was celebratory.

“It was absolutely brilliant,” said Tina Pantling, the home’s manager. “It was a lovely afternoon and a lovely atmosphere.”

Four members of the home were also celebrating 25 years of living there – all now in their 90s they moved in upon the opening of the home in 1988.

Tina was very pleased with how the celebration went.

“We’ve had so many lovely compliments afterwards.

“Everybody enjoyed the day and said afterwards it was really, really lovely.

“I decided we’ve been open 25 years, and let’s have a party.

“We didn’t think it would go as well as it did.”

She added the home received lots of support from companies in the area which provided prizes for the raffle, such as the Co-op and the West Wittering Estate.

Partygoers raised around £425, mainly with the raffle, which will be used to buy something to commemorate the occasion for the home.
